The Department of Education, Languages, Intercultures, Literatures and Psychology (FORLILPSI) explores the relationships between languages, cultures, the mind, behaviour, training and education, considering texts and contexts and their spatial and temporal dimensions. It aims to be a leading centre for the study of education, languages, cultures and psychological processes.
Established on 1 January 2019 through the merger of the Department of Education and Psychology (SCIFOPSI) and the Department of Languages, Literatures and Intercultural Studies (LILSI), it seeks to strengthen interdisciplinary research and teaching and enhance organisational effectiveness in fulfilling the University’s institutional missions. It brings together disciplinary areas 10 and 11 of the Italian National University Council (CUN), promoting high-quality research and innovative educational programmes through collaboration across these areas and encouraging interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary dialogue.
The Department offers a comprehensive range of programmes, including Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, postgraduate master’s programmes, advanced courses and doctoral programmes, using innovative and inclusive teaching methods. It pursues open, collaborative and international research through cultural agreements, development cooperation, international funding and double-degree programmes. It also provides extensive teacher education across all school levels and seeks to bring the benefits of its research to society, promoting inclusion, diversity and well-being.
The Department’s development strategy rests on four pillars, aligned with the objectives of the University’s Strategic Plan 2025–2027:
