Quality Assurance

Departments play a central role in the University’s Quality Assurance System.

As part of their Quality Assurance processes, Departments prepare the following documents annually:

Departmental Development Plan: the Department’s strategic planning document, aligned with the University’s Strategic Plan. It covers a three-year period, is updated annually, and incorporates academic staffing plans and the financial budget.
Annual Monitoring and Review Report: a document analysing and evaluating the main activities and results achieved during the reporting year in teaching, research, knowledge valorisation and resource management.

These documents are prepared in accordance with the templates, procedures and deadlines established by the University of Florence through official provisions and circulars, in compliance with the requirements of ANVUR (the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes) and the University’s Quality Assurance System.

The main participants in the Department’s Quality Assurance processes are the Head of Department, the Department Council, the Steering and Self-Assessment Committee (CIA), and any delegates appointed for specific areas.

Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Department and its Degree Programmes: Professor Davide Capperucci. Coordinator responsible for preparing the Departmental Annual Report (RADip): Professor Fabio Togni.

To implement Quality Assurance processes for Degree and Doctoral Programmes, the Department also draws on the work of the governing bodies of the programmes for which it is responsible and of the Schools in which it participates.
