Vision

The Department of Education, Languages, Intercultures, Literatures and Psychology (FORLILPSI) seeks to strengthen its role as a leading centre for the study of education, languages, cultures and psychological processes, promoting interdisciplinary research, teaching innovation and the societal impact of knowledge. Building on the strengths of disciplinary areas 10 and 11 of the Italian National University Council (CUN), FORLILPSI translates this vision into four strategic priorities for 2025–2027: quality and innovation in education, scientific excellence in research, international engagement, and societal impact through its third mission.

With this aim, the Department seeks to advance educational and psychological research through diverse theoretical, historical, methodological and applied approaches, alongside linguistic and literary research within their respective philological, historical and cultural contexts. It also aims to strengthen methodological expertise for research and training in emerging fields, and to foster closer integration between theoretical studies and practical interventions addressing multilingualism in relation to migration, globalisation and internationalisation. At the same time, it promotes experimentation in scholarly communication and publishing, including through digital tools and open science.

The Department also seeks to encourage reflection on the impact of educational, training, psychological, linguistic and cultural dimensions in interpersonal, organisational, school and healthcare settings. It aims to strengthen participation in scientific and project networks within and beyond Europe, thereby consolidating its role in the international scientific community. Progress towards these objectives is monitored through indicators such as new student enrolments, interdisciplinary and international publications, Erasmus mobility, international students and doctoral candidates, international agreements, and initiatives to bring research benefits to society, with targets set for 2027.
